Dead Air
Dead Air showed up strong with founder Mike Pappas on site, running favorites like the
Wolfman and Mojave. Their crew was friendly, patient, and willing to answer basically any
question you threw at them.
One of their reps even taught my lady friend proper shooting technique
which was great.
Because apparently my instruction “didn’t count.”
Dead Air continues to stand out not just for their products, but for how they treat people. Fans,
first-timers, and industry folks all get the same level of respect, which goes a long way.
B.O.S.S. Silencers
B.O.S.S. Silencers had a strong lineup, and the Commander series in 9mm was a standout,
especially on MP5 or clone platforms. They had a Lever Gun that made me feel like John
Wayne without the cancer…
Is it compact?
Yes.
Is it effective?
Also yes.
We ran both supers and subs, and even with supers it stayed hearing-safe. Their cans are
versatile, reasonably priced, and backed by founder Michael Cain, a guy who’s consistently
honest, informative, and somehow responsible for me attending an Aimpoint event at SHOT
Show. I owe him snacks, at minimum.
Q
Q brought the Fix in 8.6, and the line stayed long all weekend for good reason. Recoil was
noticeably lighter than expected, suppression was excellent, and best of all - no blast of gas
straight into your face.
Sadly, I didn’t get to shoot the Boombox or bump into Kevin or Jordan (presumably hunting
something expensive overseas), but the Fix alone made the wait worthwhile.
Barrett .50 BMG - The Mile Shot
My personal highlight: the suppressed Barrett .50 BMG, shooting out to one mile.
This was a $20 add-on, and probably the best $20 I spent all weekend. I would’ve spent 100 to
do it 4 more times
You get two shots, a spotter, and a rep walking you through everything. Despite its size, recoil
was very manageable off the bipod, and suppression kept it surprisingly comfortable behind the
gun (it barked a bit more off to the side).
A green light on the target lets you know instantly if you connected.
I connected.
First shot.
You earn a gold engraved challenge coin for a hit.
I earned it.
And immediately lost it.
Growth opportunity.
Bonus: PSA
Palmetto State Armory rolled out the Mixtape AR along with their new suppressor. Chambered
in .300 BLK, it looked good, shot clean, stayed hearing-safe, and came in at a price point that
makes terrible financial decisions feel reasonable.
